Coverage for Each Stage of Life
Most people come to us with one question: how do I protect my family if something happens to me. The answer might be term life for the years your kids are young, whole life or universal life for coverage that lasts, mortgage protection to keep a loan from landing on your spouse, or final expense insurance to cover end-of-life costs. We also help with retirement income planning for clients who want their savings to turn into a steady monthly check. Each service page explains how that policy works and what moves its price.

Term Life Insurance
Affordable coverage for a set number of years, with a straight answer on how long approval takes and updates if underwriting asks for more.

Universal Life Insurance
Permanent coverage with premiums you can adjust, a cash value account, and a step-by-step timeline from first call to policy delivery.

Whole Life Insurance
Permanent coverage with premiums that stay level and cash value that builds, explained plainly with a realistic timeline from quote to approval.

Mortgage Protection
Life coverage sized to your mortgage balance and loan term, so your family can keep up the payments or pay off the loan if you die.

Final Expense Insurance
A small, permanent policy that leaves your family money for funeral costs and final bills, with a realistic timeline at every step.

Retirement Income Planning
We help you turn savings, Social Security and insurance options into a monthly income plan, with meeting dates and next steps written down so you always know what comes next.
Why Clients Work With Us
Buying a policy is rarely hard. Waiting on one without knowing what is happening is. We built how we work around keeping you informed.
- 01
A realistic timeline up front
Before you apply, we tell you how long the insurer usually takes for someone in your situation. Some applications clear in days. Others need medical records and take several weeks, and we say so at the start.
- 02
A call when plans change
If an underwriter asks for a doctor's report or an extra exam, you hear it from us, along with what it means for your approval date. You should never have to chase us for news.
- 03
Appointments that fit your schedule
We meet at our office, at your home or by phone or video, at a time you choose, and keep to it. If we are running late, we let you know before the hour, not after.
- 04
Honest advice on how much you need
We start from your income, debts and the people who depend on you. If a smaller term policy covers it, we will tell you that rather than steer you toward something bigger.
- 05
Plain explanations of the fine print
Riders, conversion options, cash value and surrender charges all get explained in everyday words, so you know what you are signing.
What Drives Your Premium
The insurer decides the premium after its underwriting review, so no one can lock in a price ahead of that. What we can do is explain the factors behind it and lay quotes next to each other before you agree to anything.
Quotes reflect what you tell us and are only final after the insurer finishes underwriting. If anything changes, we go over it with you before you accept the policy.
- Your age and health
- Applicants who are younger and in better health tend to pay less. Diabetes or high blood pressure won't disqualify you, though they may shift the rate class you land in.
- The kind of policy
- Term life runs for a fixed number of years and usually costs the least for each dollar of coverage. Whole and universal life last longer and build cash value, so the monthly cost is higher.
- How much and how long
- A bigger benefit or a longer term means a higher premium. We tie both to actual commitments, like what's left on the mortgage or how many years until the kids are done with school.
- Tobacco and daily habits
- Smoking, vaping and certain jobs or pastimes change the price. Answering honestly on the application prevents delays and trouble down the road.
- Optional riders
- Add-ons such as waiver of premium or a child rider increase what you pay each month. We explain each one and skip any that don't do real work for you.
Where We Meet Clients
We work with clients throughout San Francisco and across the bridge in Mill Valley, Tamalpais-Homestead Valley, Kentfield, Fairfax and Marin City. Meetings take place at our office, at your home or by video at a time you choose, and we plan travel so we arrive when we said we would.

The Path to Coverage
From your first phone call to the day your policy takes effect, here is how things go.
- 1
An opening phone call
We learn about your family, earnings, debts and goals, and answer anything you want to ask. Plan on roughly twenty minutes.
- 2
We sit down with you at our office or your home
At a time that fits your day, we go over policy choices and quotes with you, in person or by video, and hand you a written outline of how long things should take.
- 3
Applying and insurer review
We fill in the application with you and arrange any medical exam. During the insurer's review, we track progress and phone you whenever anything shifts.
- 4
Policy handoff
Once approved, we read through the policy with you one page at a time, check your beneficiary information and confirm the first premium is arranged properly.
What Clients Want to Know
Something not covered here? (415) 480-8034
How long until a life insurance policy is approved?
That varies with the insurer, the type of policy and your medical history. A simplified application can be approved in a few days, while a fully underwritten one often needs several weeks, longer if medical records are requested. Before you apply we give you an honest estimate, and we call if it moves.
Will I have to take a medical exam?
Sometimes, not always. Plenty of term life and final expense policies are issued from your answers and database checks, while bigger policies usually call for a brief exam that includes a blood draw. When one is required, we help book it for a time that suits you.
Should I choose term life or whole life?
Term life covers a set number of years and costs less. It works well when the main goal is replacing your income while kids are young or a mortgage is still being paid. Whole life lasts your entire life and builds cash value, which makes the premium higher. Many clients combine a larger term policy with a smaller permanent one, and we can show how each choice fits your budget.
How do I figure out the right coverage amount?
First we total what your family would lose and what they would still owe: the years of income they count on, the mortgage and other debts, and costs ahead like college. Then we recommend an amount that works with your monthly budget instead of a round figure that just sounds good. If that total is more than you can manage, we show how a shorter term or a combination of policies can bridge it.
What if my health changes before my application is approved?
Let us know immediately. Certain insurers must be told about changes before the policy is delivered, and being upfront keeps your coverage secure. We'll explain any effect on your rate or timing.
Whom can I list as my beneficiary?
Options include a spouse, children, other family members, a trust or a charity, and the benefit can be divided among several people. With minor children, a trust or guardian setup is often worth talking through. In most cases you can change beneficiaries later as life changes.
Can we meet at my home or by video instead of your office?
Yes. You can meet us at our office, at your kitchen table, or by phone or video, at the time you choose. If something delays us, you hear from us beforehand.

A Local Office Focused on Clear Communication
Life Insurance San Francisco helps people in the city and nearby Marin towns put the right coverage in place. Many of our clients are working parents and families who don't have time for open-ended appointments or weeks of silence after they sign an application.
So we work the way we would want to be treated. We set appointments we can keep, give you an honest estimate of how long approval will take, and pick up the phone when that estimate changes. You always know where your application stands and what comes next.
